Hello Everyone! I traveled to the Philippines on December 21, 2013 to January 4th, 2014, and I would like to share my story! ^_^
Traveling to the Philippines was a battle with time. The flights were long, it was hard to sleep comfortably, and worst of all I ran out of things to do quickly. My airport of origin was DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport) but I had two stop overs before reaching the Philippines; JFK (John F. Kennedy International Airport) and NRT (Narita International Airport).
DCA- Washington DC
This was taken at my home airport DCA. Thankfully they had a charging station at the cafeteria area, so I had time to browse the internet and eat breakfast!
I kept my outfit simple and most importantly very comfortable. I wore multiple layers so it would be easier for me to remove when the weather got warmer. It went from 30 degree DC weather to 80 degree Philippine weather. This video was also taken at DCA while walking towards my gate for my first flight! Fortunately my first flight was to NY so it was only 45 minutes!
JFK- New York
I arrived to JFK safely, however my layover in NY was 5 hours! Wahhhhhhhhh!!!
JFK had lots of stores where you can browse and purchase. Best of all they had charging stations at every sitting area and free limited wifi so I was able contact my friends and family while I was waiting for my next flight.
My flight from NY to Japan was soooo long but they had individual consoles so I watched lots of movies for my 14 hour flight! I watched Despicable Me 1 and 2, Beautiful Creatures, The Heat, and Brave. I also had a window seat which was nice because I could lean on the window while I was sleeping, but it also sucked because I had to wake up the couple that was next to me every time I needed to go to the bathroom.
I left DC Saturday morning at 6am and I arrived to the Philippines Sunday night around 11pm. I was so exhausted and jet lag by the time I got the Philippines but it was definitely worth it because I had so much fun!
